Q: What was your creative vision or inspiration behind the mix?

Initially, I had a completely different idea to tell the story of a villain through my own life experiences and in sound, however that turned out to be too ambitious to execute at this time, so I thought of another idea - what if I tried to capture the "feeling" of a villain and turn it into sound instead? So then I picked the best tracks that resonate with me and the theme currently, finding this "middle ground" of sorts.

Q: Tell us about some of the tracks or samples that you selected.

Each track and the mixing style follows the idea I had for "the sound of a villain" - loud, dark, chaotic, borderline destructive with how heavy it is. I tried adding my own spin on some tracks to make it more personal, as well as tease the direction that I'd like to head with JEIQ in terms of sound and influence. There's a bunch of edits I've yet to release that didn't really fit the sound I had before until now. I'm still working on everything, so I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts :)

Q: What does this mix reveal about you as an artist?

I think this mix reflects the stage I'm in currently in life - intense, unconventional, a bit rough at the edges to be honest - and I wanted to explore how far I could push those feelings through sound. At the same time, it's a trial run of where I'd like to take JEIQ next. I'm not trying to box myself into a particular sound just yet, but I think this mix is a good representation of where my head is right now, given that this was actually my first time mixing after 4 months of not DJing at all.
